When our first son, David, was born in 2014, I started signing with him right away. I graduated in the field of interpreting so signing was already a natural part of my day, but I had no idea what an impact it would have on my baby and his development. I became passionate about baby signs and started Tiny Hands Learning when David was only a few months old. Our second son, Zeke, was born in 2018, and we were delighted to reap the benefits of baby signs all over again.
I created a Baby Signs Online Course in response to COVID-19 and Tiny Hands Learning is now trusted nationwide by parents, caregivers, doctors and educators!

THL’S BABY SIGNS ONLINE COURSE
Baby Sign Language is a way of communicating with young children before they have learned to speak. It involves teaching babies and toddlers simple gestures which they can use to convey their wants, needs, and feelings. This form of communication bridges the gap between nonverbal infants and their caregivers by offering them a means of expressing themselves in an effective and meaningful manner. Baby Sign Language has been found to reduce tantrums and frustration, as well as increase communication and engagement between the child and their parents or caregivers. Teaching Baby Sign Language does not require any prior knowledge, and classes are available for both parents and caregivers.

Join us for a fun and immersive Baby Sign Language class where you will learn all the basic signs to begin early communication with your little one(s)! In addition, you will learn simple ways to support your baby's intellectual and emotional development.

IN-PERSON SMALL GROUP ASL LESSONS (Asheville Area)
This is a fun option for your “bubble”. These lessons are intended to fit your schedule. Some groups choose to sign up for weekly lessons while others prefer to meet monthly. Lessons build upon each other as the ASL vocabulary advances.

*The in-person group rate is $125/class (can be divided evenly among students. 10 students max).

PRIVATE ASL LESSONS FOR KIDS 5+ (virtual)
With expert instruction from a certified instructor, participants can learn the basics of sign language in a supportive and fun environment. Kris carefully guides her students through the process of learning ASL and helps them become confident signers. Students will learn ASL vocabulary through songs, stories and natural conversation. Signing at home is the key to success!
Lessons are 30 minutes each and will build upon each other, therefore allowing for repetitive learning (which helps children develop skills that become habits). As students become more comfortable with the visual language, they will be encouraged to incorporate more signs into their daily vocabulary ensuring that signing becomes a natural part of every day.

PRIVATE LESSONS FOR ADULTS (virtual)
Many of our adult students are finally fulfilling their lifelong dream of learning this beautiful language. Private ASL lessons cover fundamental concepts such as alphabet, numbers/time, facial expressions, classifiers, basic conversations and much more. Participants will learn true ASL grammar and be able to reach a comfortable conversation level and see progress right away. Private ASL lessons are 30 minutes each and ideal for those looking to drastically improve their communication with family members, friends or co-workers who are Deaf or hard of hearing.

SMALL GROUP LESSONS (virtual)
This is a great option for busy schedules. These lessons rotate monthly for Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced skill levels. Through creative and interactive activities, learners are able to develop and improve their ASL language skills while also gaining a better understanding of Deaf culture.
